Camping week

Paige started her first week of  "summer camp" at school and this week's theme was camping!!

We had a lot of fun with the theme this week. We did worksheets and art projects with camping, we went on a hike and made trail mix and even had a camp out in the backyard where we roasted hot dogs and s'mores on the fire!

We did fun art projects like leaf rubbing. I was surprised how much Paige liked this. She kept wanting to go outside and find new leaves with different shapes:)
The worksheets were a lot of fun and we learned new words like compass and canteen:) We worked on patterns, finding the difference of things and letter sounds. Paige has so much fun with these!

We can make a pretty cool fort too!!:)

We went to a Brandon's birthday party this past weekend (one of the kids in her class) and it was at Pump It Up, which is one of those places where there are inflatables everywhere and stuff for kids to do. There was a rock wall and Paige wanted to get harnessed up and tackle it - that was a very "campy" thing to do too:)

Adam set up the tent for our camping night...

Roasting marshmallows for s'mores in our jammies:)

Paige in front of the tent getting ready to go in for the night.

Reading bedtime stories by flashlight:)

I was amazed that she slept through the night AND even Molly slept through the night in her dog bed in the tent..It actually really felt like camping. We heard lots of wilderness sounds, like birds and coyotes howling and woke up to a rooster crowing and peacock noises (we have some rural neighbors in the distance:)

The next morning we woke up and headed out for a hike. We have a camping weekend planned for September and I think it will be great!
