Kitchen Makeover

Our new house was built in 1980 and many of the features throughout the house are still original, including the kitchen cabinets and countertops, floors, etc.

Before we moved in, my mom and dad had the brilliant idea to help us give our kitchen a face lift. It was sooo much work, but sure was worth it in the long run.

My dad sanded and painted all of the cabinets, we took down all of the pink and blue flower wall paper, painted the walls, changed the cabinet hardware and installed a new sink faucet. (All of this was done in a little over a weekend!) On top of all that my parents got us a new dishwasher for our house warming gift!!! The old one was original and black and did not match the existing all white appliances.

There is still plenty to do, but painting the cabinets and walls sure made a big difference. Next on the list is out with the flourescnet lighting and in with recessed lighting. Later down the line we can replace countertops, floors, etc.

Little by little our house is definitely starting to feel like home!
