Santa Barbara - Where are you?

This past weekend we went on our first ever family vacation with just our little family. It was short and sweet, but perfect. We took a trip up to Santa Barbara for a night and Paige got to stay in a hotel for the first time. Very exciting! As soon as we walked into the hotel room Paige ran to this little chair and said this is where Paige is sleeping and she pretended to go to sleep. Silly girl! She is such a goof ball:)

It was chilly when we first got up there, but we went for a walk along the boardwalk by the beach. Here we are standing in front of our hotel (right across from the beach!) We try to take advantage of my work hotel connections when we can:)

Paige LOVED staying in a hotel. We just got to play and have fun. She got into mommy's make up and had so much fun. She would put in on and then run to the mirror to look at herself and then come back and put more on. Funny story: she was putting bronzor on my cheeks too. We left later on to go out to dinner and I had forgot she had put it on me. I was walking around looking like a clown before I realized I still had this on!:)

We stayed at a Doubletree where they give you cookies when you check in, so we came back from dinner and all ate our cookies. What a treat! Paige thought this was so much fun. It is a surprise that we were able to get her to bed after all that sugar:)

The next morning we were all up and going early. We had some breakfast and watched Saturday morning cartoons (which really don't exist anymore since cartoons are on all the time anytime). This was very special since Paige does  not watch that much TV really. She loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse though:)

Our first stop was the Santa Barbara Pier....

Followed by the beautiful old fashioned carousal. I just watched Paige's face the entire time we were on here. It was a magical moment for her. She kept saying "This is so fun, Mommy" and was just looking all around at all of the horsies:) She loved going up and down..what a treat!

The next stop was the beautiful Santa Barbara Zoo. It is such an amzaing zoo and when you are ther you feel like you are in a different world!

Paige was very excited and we got to see lots of animals. Here is Paige with the flamingos. She always likes to lift one leg up and say "flamingo" and she thinks it is sooo funny. Well, now she finally got to see a real flamingo in real life, so that was neat.

Paige in front of the elephants. This elephant has a beautiful view of hills and the ocean...quite a lucky elephant. Paige can say almost every word perfectly, but elephant is one that she says with her own flip and I am in no hurry to change it. She likes to say "epherant" :)

At the zoo they have a few fun play areas for kids and at this one all the kids bring their own cardboard boxes and sled down the hill - Paige could have done this the rest of the day! :) Below is a little video of her sledding:)

We also got to feed Betty Lou, the giraffe!! She has a very slimey tongue.

"Hmmmm....I wonder if I can get Betty Lou out of here and bring her home with me??:)"
