Our First Snow Trip

We decided to take a trip up to the mountains to Big Bear over the New Year holiday weekend....it ended up being more of a Griswold Family day trip. The car ride there was supposed to take 1 hour and 45 minutes and instead it took us 5 hours to get there! It was bumper to bumper traffic for the last 30 miles in the mountains on the twisty one lane rode up there. Poor Paige. She did really well, but did not want to sleep much on the way there because we were going so slow. We ended up pulling over for a little while just so she could get out and stretch and play in the back of the car. She thought this was the coolest. She liked watching and waving at the cars going by. We weren't sure if we would ever get up to the snow before dark, so we decided to let her play on the sled in the back of the car in case, since we promised sledding:)

"Parents, I thought there was suppossed to be snow for this?":)

We did finally make it up to Big Bear and were so happy to finally get there.

Paige put on all of her snow gear and we went out to try out the snow.

"How am I suppossed to move in this?"

We drove all that way and Paige DOES NOT like snow. We think it reminds her of Santa's beard because Santa and snow are the top things she does not like right now. She did not want be near it!:) Grammy and Grumpy were staying up in a cabin with their friends and had built a Paige sized luge for her to slide down, but unfortunately she wanted nothing to do with it!

The Paige pout was definitely out. Is this miserable looking or what?

Here she is putting her feet in the snow for the first time - she didn't mind this too much:)

....and she liked looking at everything and being outside if she was being held...

We did get some sledding in, but Paige didn't really like this either and when she watched other people sledding she liked it ok until they came in for a crash landing. This she didn't like....she definitely has a very sweet caring side already and does not like to see people get hurt or see people sad or crying.

"Oh, good - I get to go back inside out of this snow!"

Everyone was nice enough to let us stay for a yummy dinner before we attempted the long drive back home. That was really nice!

All in all it was an adventure of a day. We wish we could have stayed up in the mountains for a week and just relax...

We will have to give snow another shot next year......:)
